Montco plans memorial for residents killed in Iraq 

The Montgomery County commissioners plan to set aside $50,000 to build a memorial to residents who have died in Iraq. 

The decision Tuesday was prompted by an Internet petition drive seeking to name a county office building for John Kulick of Harleysville, a Whitpain firefighter and National Guardsman killed in Iraq in 2005, the commissioners said. (read more)

Harleysville girl tells of shark attack
At the North Penn Valley Boys & Girls Club on Wednesday, Juliette was walking, but after more than 100 stitches her leg is bandaged from knee to ankle.
Juliette was lucky, said her mom, Leslie Shipp. The bite just missed tendons.
Juliette said that at first all she felt was a burning sensation in her leg. She shook her leg, trying to get away. She felt something let go, but couldn't make it out.
"I just saw a shadowy dark thing swimming," she said. (read more)
